Ziggy Beach Club and Restaurant – Tulum

Beach clubs are very popular in Mexico – pay an entrance fee to dine on beach beds and cabanas, and you’ll get your fee credited back to you in the form of food and drinks. We came to popular Ziggy’s Beach Club for just that, but sadly we arrived a little too late – the beach club was closing!

We did though get to dine at their beachside restaurant for dinner, and had a perfect view of the sunset with live music in the background.

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – complete with swings at the bar, a pool table, and chill, Tulum vibes. The dinner menu had a wide range of seafood and Mexican dishes.

This was the free appetizer given to us before our meal. It contained tortilla chips, goat cheese, a fruity sauce for dipping and various vegetables. Such a nice surprise!

Fresh tuna marinated in soy sauce and sesame oil, avocado, Sriracha mayonnaise, and cilantro sprouts over wonton chips.

This firecracker gem was the Tuna Nachos, and it’s seriously one of the best things I ate in Tulum! The combo of avo and fresh ahi tuna was perfection.

We eat a lot of poke (raw fish) in Hawaii, and this definitely lived up to my high raw fish standards 🙂 While it looks small, it was very filling!

The Guacamole Ziggy’s was another dish that had me chowing down on avocado – something that I hate eating back home but surprisingly love in Mexico!

It was served over braised cheese and was pretty heavy – we couldn’t finish it and probably shouldn’t have ordered 2 appetizers loaded with avo, but it was still pretty tasty.

Dinner was very delicious, and we loved the atmosphere – very romantic and good for date night! While we only ordered appetizers, they were very filling and definitely larger than we expected. The pricing was a little higher for Mexico standards, but still extremely affordable when compared to the US. ($8-10 appetizers.)

We absolutely loved the vibe at Ziggy’s, and the quality of the food was incredible. The staff was extremely nice, and I would love to go back and experience the beach club next time. (Or maybe play some pool with a couple of drinks!) Definitely check this place out while in Tulum Beach 🙂
