Waipahu Haunted Plantation

THE WAIPAHU HAUNTED PLANTATION VILLAGE

Happy October everyone! In official Halloween spirit, I’m excited to bring you some Halloween related posts. Now I’m pretty wimpy at haunted houses, but I love the thrill and have extreme FOMO syndrome. (Fear of Missing Out!) This led Jarden and I to being at one of Hawaii’s most popular haunted attractions, The Waipahu Haunted Plantation Village.

The Waipahu Haunted Plantation is a walk through haunted house attraction that’s ACTUALLY haunted. There’s been multiple sightings and reports of paranormal activity, and the plantation has even been featured on SYFY and The Travel Channel because of these reports. Fricken creepy!

This is the plantations 10th anniversary, and they really brought out all the stops to celebrate. It’s actually not for children under 13 years of age, and when we went, a person in the group in front of us actually started crying and had to be escorted out! (One of many that night I heard.)

Waipahu Haunted PlantationWhat I love about The Haunted Plantation is that because it’s a village, you walk through multiple houses, not just one! Each house has a different type of theme and brings about a different scary element. It seemed to go on forever, and you never know what or who was around the corner!

Although the village has lighted pathways, you have no guide with you. You can hear screams from the groups all around you, and all the while in the back of my mind, I was thinking that there might be real ghosts around. It makes the experience so much scarier!

The costumes this year were excellent. Now I’m going to admit that I had my eyes closed a few times, and I really try not to look the actors in the face. (I mean, look at the guy above! He was legit!) I’m amazed by Halloween makeup, but avoiding eye contact is my defense mechanism. (This doesn’t help though, as the actors like to pick on me because they know I’m avoiding them lol.) When I did get a glimpse into a few of the actors eyes though, I did see some scary looking contacts looking back, freaking myself out more. Again, visuals were awesome!

Now I’m not going to give any surprises of the attraction away, but the actors were all really professional and really kept in character, and some of them can move wicked fast 😉 Although the actors can’t touch you, they do get mighty close. Certain props also really freaked me and Jarden out; loud noises play a big part in this attraction. It’s also unique in that it’s an outside environment; you even enter through a creepy tunnel that’s very reminiscent of Jeepers Creepers. Jarden and I had such a fun time! We would definitely recommend checking out The Haunted Plantation if you’re looking for a good scare this Halloween. All the information is below:
