With an insatiable need to search out new places to travel too, Jarden and I rounded up our list of the Top 10 places to Travel to in 2016. With factors including tourism, economics, environmental concerns and more, the countries on this list span a wide variety that will surely have something for your personal travel preference.
1. Nicaragua

Quickly becoming the new hot spot destination for budget travelers, head to Nicaragua if you are looking for inexpensive travel that still gives great value. From sand dune boarding, to rich coffee tourism and serene island life, this is topping our bucket list for Central American travel.
2. Palau
(source)
We discovered this destination because of the jellyfish phenomenon, but Palau is primarily gaining buzz because of it’s world class snorkeling and diving. (Haven’t heard of Palau’s jellyfish? There’s an area where you can swim with jellyfish who have lost their stingers; bucket list worthy!)
3. Ukraine
(source)
Ukraine, one of the largest European countries, is rapidly attracting visitors with it’s laid back culture and scenic landscapes. Fun Fact: It’s also home to one of the most beautiful and magical locations on earth in our opinion; The Tunnel of Love!
4. Cuba
(source)
Because of the lifted travel limitations of travel between Cuba and the US, this is sure to be the newest hot spot destination. Hopefully you can experience the rich culture and history before too much tourism takes over.
5. Japan
(source)
With the devaluation of the Japanese Yen, the country is more affordable than ever right now. From extreme country life to extreme city life, Japan can cater to any travel lifestyle that you’re craving, while still giving you a look into the culture. It’s also rising in popularity due to the 2020 olympics!
6. Uruguay

Honestly, this destination was never on my radar, but it was rated highly on Fodor’s list, and with good reason! Tourism is on the rise, it’s nicknamed the “Switzerland of America”, and I’m sure the fact that Marijuana is legal there brings in a number of visitors 😉
7. Myanmar
(source)
Increasing in popularity year by year, it’s only a matter a time before Myanmar get’s overrun by tourists. Regardless, it still holds immense culture and history, and is definitely a place that you should put on your to-do list.
8. Montenegro
(source)
Eastern Europe is quickly on the rise, and Kotor in Montenegro is quickly sparking a buzz in the travel community. From the beautiful landscapes to the rich history and the gorgeous architecture, we can see why so many travelers are wandering to it’s borders.
9. Iceland
(source)
Iceland has always been at the top of our travel list, year after year. We’ve yet to go, but the insane waterfalls, glaciers, wildlife and famous blue lagoon always seems to be calling our name! You can also see the Northern Lights here, which is of course an added bonus.
10. Australia
(source)
Last but not least is the land down under! Australia has always been a hot spot for people fueling their wanderlust, but the decrease of the Aussie dollar has people flocking more than ever. The Great Barrier reef is also something to see sooner than later, as it faces numerous environmental threats.
Where are you going in 2016?
