If we had to choose as to what our favorite place in Iceland was, we would probably have to say that it was Jökulsárlón, the infamous glacier lagoon and a must-visit if you ever decide to go to Iceland. It’s a long way from Reykjavik – nearly 5 hours one way! We stayed in the town of Vik when we visited, which cut our drive down to 3 hours one way – still long but definitely worth it.
Situated next to Vatnajökull National Park, Jökulsárlón is littered with icebergs, and is a humbling example of natures beauty. The tall chunks of ice are simply mesmerizing, and you’ll spend a good amount of time here taking pictures – if you’re lucky you might even spot a seal! There’s also a center here that serves hot soup, as well as tours of an ice cave if that’s in your budget.
If you have the time, make the drive out to Jökulsárlón, you won’t regret it! We even made a vlog at Jökulsárlón, check it out below!
