Our first trip to Canada was over a new years weekend. We visited the general Vancouver area from city central to Whistler, and to this day it’s one of the most memorable and adventurous trips we’ve had. This was our general itinerary – it’s a great way to spend a long weekend!
Day 1:
Sea To Sky Gondola
Located near Squamish about an hour from Vancouver, this spot is the perfect place for outdoor activities year-round. We visited Sea to Sky Gondola in the winter and got to snowshoe and tube, but there is also great hiking in the Spring and Summer as well.
Bungee Jumping
If all the fun at Sea to Sky Gondola isn’t enough, why not jump off a bridge with Whistler Bungee? Yes, it was insane – but if you’re a thrill seeker, you can’t miss this!
Day 2:
Whistler Village & Outdoor Activities
Whistler Village was home to the 2010 winter olympics – it’s beautiful there, so go and explore! There is a ton of shopping, restaurants, and holds a lot of events year round. (They had a fantastic fireworks show over new years!)
As for activities, Whistler is popular for skiing, snowboarding, etc. We went snowmobiling and it was a ton of fun! Going in the summer? Try out SUP, biking, or zip lining which is year round!
Day 3:
Vancouver & Granville Island
While we only spent a few hours here for the most amazing Vancouver food tour, I would have loved to spend the day exploring lovely Granville Island. There are a ton of boutique shops, a farmer’s market, and tons of restaurants.
Some Cool Things To Do in Vancouver:
- Visit The Set of Once Upon A Time (For fans of the hit tv show!)
- Bike Around Stanley Park
- Check Out Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
Got any recommendations for the Vancouver area? (Can’t wait to do some hiking when I return!)
the adventurer
Great tips for Vancouver! I’ve only been to Whistler and we had a blast skiing there =o) Definitely want to try the bungee jump!
