Located on the beautiful East side of Oahu is Kualoa Ranch, a popular tourist spot situated in the vibrant, lush, Kualoa Valley. Kualoa Ranch offers ATV tours, horseback riding tours, and even movie set tours, as it is the popular filming location of many Hollywood movies such as Mighty Joe Young, Pearl Harbor, and Jurassic Park.
We arrived at the ranch one Thursday afternoon, excited for our 1 hour ATV tour of the valley.
After signing waivers and watching a safety briefing, we were split up into groups and immediately hopped on our ATV’s. No fussing around here!
We did a little test drive around a couple of trails to make sure we had the hang of our ATV’s; they were very easy to maneuver and had thumb-accelators that anyone could manage.
We rode around on a ton of off-road trails, getting to see the beauty of Kualoa while tromping around on huge 4 wheelers. The trails were easy for the most part, but some sections were extremely rocky and bumpy, so keep that in mind!
We were able to stop at a couple of locations for pictures, including the Jurassic Park sign used in the movies. (I’m a HUGE Jurassic Park fan!; very cool for me). Afterwards we headed back to our starting point; the 1 hour was up too quick, we had so much fun!
We loved how simple the ATV’s were; I was surprised I handled it well considering I’m not the best with motorized vehicles. The 1 hour tour is perfect for those who want to briefly see the beauty of Kualoa valley and enjoys driving ATV’s on exciting, twisty trails. If you’re looking for a longer tour, we would recommend upgrading to the 2 hour Movie Set Tour, which takes you deep into the valley and gives you a more in-depth background on the movie sets.
Kualoa Ranch is such a beautiful place to visit on O’ahu! We loved getting to explore that part of the island with all-terrain vehicles, as well as our drone.
